A popular and hard-working member retires

The sad resignation of our Almoner

Members of the Hagley & Holy Wells Lodge paid tribute to one of its longest-standing members, John Pedlingham, who announced his resignation on 23 March on health grounds.

W Bro John T C Pedlingham joined Freemasonry in 1984 and became WM of Hagley Lodge in 1991. He currently holds the rank of PPrGReg in the masonic province of Worcestershire.

E Comp John is also a past 'Z' in Holy Royal Arch and the clash between his Craft and Chapter commitments is one of his reasons for resigning.

W Bro John has, for many years, been our Almoner and has worked tirelessly to ensure the widows of our former members are contacted and visited regularly. John has organised numerous outings and events for lodge widows which have all been great successes and much appreciated by those ladies and brethren who have attended.

He was also instrumental in organising a 100th Birthday Lunch for our oldest member in 2016 as well as the Presentation of a 70-year Certificate to the same brother.

He has made sure all our widows receive gifts at Christmas and, indeed, an invitation to our Christmas meeting every year, but inevitably some of the ladies have been too poorly to attend every event.

Members of the Lodge paid tribute to John during his final meeting with the Lodge and presented him with a card and a token gift. At the next meeting he will be proposed as an Honorary Member in recognition of his service over many years.

Typical of W Bro John, though, is his desire to continue to help and support other people and he will continue to organise this summer's Widows Outing to Himley Hall on 6th July!
